Mercabarna
Foodback is a pioneering circular bioeconomy project, which is part of Mercabarna's fight against food waste.
In this equipment, the selection of fruits and vegetables is carried out which, although they are outside the commercial circuit, are suitable for consumption. Subsequently, the food is distributed among social action entities.
Banc dels Aliments is the coordinator of the project and responsible for the distribution of food and Formació i Treball provides experience in social and labor insertion of people in vulnerable situations. Other partners such as the Red Cross, Càritas, Fundació “la Caixa”, the Alimenta Program promoted by the Barcelona City Council and the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda of the Generalitat de Catalunya are also involved.
